Informationist - The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library in
Bethesda, Maryland, seeks innovative professional librarians able to
demonstrate current knowledge of information science and biomedicine;
able
to work in an environment that fosters learning, collaboration and
teamwork;
and possessing a strong service orientation.
The NIH Library has career openings for four Informationists. These
positions require a person who is highly trained in both information
science
and biomedicine who will work as an integral part of research and
clinical
care teams at NIH providing specialized expertise in information
management
that contributes vitally to research and clinical situations.
Position
responsibilities include providing information services in a highly
automated environment, instructing researchers and clinicians in the
use of
electronic resources, developing the Library's Web site, and evaluating
and
selecting the electronic and print collections.
The NIH is one of the largest biomedical research centers in the world,
with
a staff of about 18,000 - 6,000 of whom are Ph.D.'s and/or physicians.
The
NIH Library supports the biomedical and behavioral research needs of
the NIH
community with a comprehensive range of scientific, medical, and
administrative information and support services.
Beginning salary range is $55,694 to $72,400 with promotion potential
to a
position with a salary range of $66,229 to $86,095. Applicants must
