Collection Management Position at the National Library of Medicine
The National Library of Medicine has an opening for a Librarian in the
Preservation and Collection Management (PCM) Section of the Public
Services Division. The Library is located on the campus of the
National
Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Museums, galleries and
other attractions of the Washington, D.C. area are within easy access.
NLM is the world's largest medical library. The collection contains
approximately six million items, including an outstanding collection
of
rare historical materials. The Preservation and Collection Management
Section is responsible for preserving and managing the Library's

candidate will serve as a librarian in the Collection Management Unit
(CMU) which is responsible for collection management functions such as
binding, book repair, shelving the collection, space planning and
collection security. Duties include: assisting in all matters
related
to managing the collection; serving as Project Officer or Alternate
Project Officer for the Library's binding preparation, binding and
shelving contracts; planning and overseeing major projects designed to
preserve collection materials in a variety of formats including
audiovisuals and electronic resources; training and reviewing the work
of CMU library technicians and student assistants.
The position is posted at the GS 9/11/12 levels (salary range $38,406
-
$72,400).
