I am in the not uncommon situation of a librarian who has been
in the field a long time and is now getting up to speed on areas
that are rather new to me. I have two questions, which I will
post separately. I will be out of the office June 18 to 24, so
any replies that arrive during that time will not be acknowledged
until my return.
At the University of Saskatchewan Library, we are examining
preservation and permanent access to our provincial government
'born-digital' publications. As I see it, METS provides by far
the best framework for dealing with the variety of e-publications,
formats, etc. produced by government publishers. Before committing
ourselves, however, I need to have some sense of how far we
have come in implementation. Has anyone compiled a list of
actual, permenant implementations of METS, as opposed to
experiments and proof-of-concept? Even if there is no comprehensive
list, an informal list of notable implementations would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew Hubbertz
