Huh. This is new to me. Matthew, is that what you'd understood too?
Your example of surrogate diagnostics seems to imply not.
(To be clear, I'm not adopting any position on this. I'm just trying
to understand what the consensus is, and find out whether everyone who
cares agrees on it.)
