At the July 11-12 SRW/U meeting we decided that
Release 1.0 will be announced probably in early
October, and it will remain stable for  nine
months.

A pre-release of version 1.0 will be available mid
August for comment until mid-to-end September.

The pre-release is not ready to announce however
we are making the specs-in-progress available so
you can see the progress we're making. See the
srw/u specs page at

Again I want to emphasize that these currently
listed specs do not yet represent the pre-release.

I'm posting this to the ZING list only for now
(not the ZIG list yet) however these specs are
linked from the maintenance agency page.

I'll be away all next week, but in the following
week or two I hope we'll  get the pre-release
finished.
