"Pos 00188" refers to the 188th character of the file, which in this case
appears to be the end of the DOCTYPE declaration. Perhaps the next
characters are invalid (should be an opening <ead> tag) or maybe NoteTab's
not happy about the current system identifier for the DTD
("/ead/shared/ead/ead.dtd"). Try a full path, eg.
"c:/ead/shared/ead/ead.dtd" or try reversing the forward slashes, or both,
eg. "c:\ead\shared\ead\ead.dtd"
Hope that helps!

Subject: Note Tab EAD help
I've given up on using Wordperfect and switched to NoteTab. Whenever I try
to "Parse and Validate" a document, I get the following totally opaque
error message:
C:\ead\EADFiles\berlin.xml
Invalid at the top level of the document.
URL: file:///C:/ead/EADFiles/berlin.xml
Line 00001: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE ead
PUBLIC
"-//Society of American Archivists//DTD ead.dtd (Encoded Archival
Description (EAD) Version 1.0)//EN" "/ead/shared/ead/ead.dtd">
Pos 00188:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------^
What in the world is this supposed to mean??
