Come see what is being done to Create Value from Goddard’s Knowledge Assets.
The Staff of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Library invite you to
their Open House on September 26, 2002, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
At 1:00 p.m. Center Director Al Diaz will introduce the Keynote Speaker
Simon Szykman of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Szykman is currently on an assignment in the White House Office of Science
and Technology Policy (OSTP). He will be discussing his work on the NIST
Design Repository Project to develop a computational framework for the
creation of design repositories and the proof-of-concept prototype.
Additionally, throughout the day there will be demonstrations of exciting
new technologies, services and projects. Demonstrations will feature:
· Digital Archiving of Goddard Knowledge Assets
· MyGoddard Portal
· NASA Technology Inventory
· Goddard’s Virtual System Design Environment
· IMAGES (Image and Movie Archive of Goddard’s Earth and Space Sciences)
· JOINed Digital Library for Earth Science Education
· New Library Knowledge Assets (iLink, MyLibrary Portal, Gale Total Access)
· Preserving Project Documents: A Standards-Based Approach (UMD/CIS
Partnership)
· Vbrick - Video and Audio Encoders/Decoders
Refreshments and giveaways will be available throughout the day.

Librarians and paraprofessionals who are interested in attending this event
must follow the following procedures:

Title, contact information, and one of the following arrival times: 9:45
a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., or 12:45 p.m.

PARKING
Attendees should park their vehicles at Cipriano Square (also known as the
"K-Mart Shopping Center"), located at 8829 Greenbelt Rd, Greenbelt, MD
20770, then walk across the street to the Security Station to present your
photo ID and be picked up by the escort bus.
SECURITY
On the day of the event, attendees are requested to arrive at the Security
Station 15 minutes prior to the escort bus arrival time for processing. All
attendees must have a valid driver’s license to be admitted to the event.
The escort bus will arrive at the Security Station at the following times:
9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 12:45 p.m.
The escort bus will return visitors from the Library back to the Security
Station at the following times: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00
p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 (with successive trips as needed).
PLEASE NOTE:
The cafeteria is open until 2:00 p.m. for lunch on the 1st floor of the
Goddard Library building.
