Fellow PCC Participants !
In commemoration of the start of another academic year, the PCC
announces the new Fall line-up. This is the material over which the PCC
Secretariat has been laboring all summer and is now ready to unveil for
this season's debut.
The Cooperative Cataloging Team announces the addition of team
member William Starck to the LC family of PCC liaisons. Mr. Starck,
former assistant to Ms. Henriette Avram and team leader in the History
and Literature Cataloging Division, has accepted a permanent position
with the "Coop" team. Bill, welcome aboard!
The BIBCO Participants' Manual or BPM is now available in .pdf
format. The BPM is linked from the BIBCO Home Page at:
http://www.loc/gov/catdir/pcc/bibco.html under the category of "BIBCO
documentation, policies, etc." The next update to Cataloger's Desktop
will include the BIBCO Participants' Manual.
A Web video featuring our own PCC Secretariat, John D. Byrum,
Jr., is now available for viewing from the PCC Home Page. Your PC
workstation must have a media player on which to play video clips. For
an informative presentation about the benefits of cooperative cataloging
and the PCC, please tune your monitor to this URL:
"An Alphabetic List of Ambiguous Entities: Name vs. Subject
file; where to establish what" has now been posted to the SACO Home
Page. This list is based on the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject
Headings instruction sheet H 405, dated August, 2002. Please remember
that the list is not meant to be exhaustive! In addition, please check
out the newly-updated SACO Web resources link, which is an
all-discipline resource for SACO reference sources.
BIBCO libraries and information chart is a collocation of
material about BIBCO participants that includes each institution's
vendor(s), area of specialities, MARC21 symbol, and utility symbol.
This tabular summary pulls this information together and more in one
convenient location. The Coop team is requesting for BIBCO liaisons to
provide additional material for inclusion in this document.
And as always, this gentle reminder, that any changes to
institutional liaisons should be reported directly to Coop team member,
John N. Mitchell, at [log in to unmask] for updating purposes.
Make sure you check the PCC calendar for new upcoming events and
the posting of what will be happening this Fall for the Policy
Committee, including new PoCo members, and ALA Midwinter in
Cooperative Cataloging Team
