Peter:
XT is reading all of the files in your xml/x directory, not all of which are XML/EAD files. Accordingly, XT doesn't have knowledge of their structure and so reports the errors you see. If you relocate these files to sub-directories within /x/ (and the pointer to your DTD in the XML files as a result!), the errors will disappear. If you can live with them, then no problem.
