I'm not sure what you mean by "transmission format",  but we have converted
several hundred guides from MARC records to EAD.

I  use marcxml to convert the MARC record in to XML, and then run that doc
through saxon with a stylesheet.

I got a copy of marcxml from Michael Fox, as well as a start on the
stylesheet.   If you want more specific information, please feel free to
contact me.
