Business Continuation and Disaster Recovery: What We Learned From 9/11

In the of shadow September 11, 2001, many federal offices are
reevaluating disaster recovery plans and concerning themselves with the
broader issues of business continuity. This seminar will focus on
preparedness, recovery, and service continuity in digital environments
for federal staff members who write disaster recovery plans or those who
provide input into such plans. The program will include general
overviews of the topic from the private and government sectors and
real-world scenarios from federal information centers and libraries that
have survived physical disasters and electronic interruptions.

FLICC plans to build an active community service for sharing disaster
recovery plans and locating experts who can help others develop plans.
As part of the seminar, FLICC will present a proposal to start a small
set of Web-based services designed to support the federal community as
we work on disaster planning for our mission critical infrastructure and
information services. Plan to be in on the ground floor of this exciting
new resource.
