Network Bulletin No. 02-39
Date: December 13, 2002
Subject: Comprehensive Mailing List System (CMLS)
Index term: Subscriber Characteristics Analysis Report
Attached is a CMLS Subscriber Characteristics Analysis
Report for your library. The report was compiled at the
conclusion of federal fiscal year (FY) 2002, which ended
September 30, 2002. It profiles your library's subscribers-
- individuals and patrons in organizations-- under the
following categories: age, disabling condition, language,
equipment code, county code, reader interest, and domicile.
The report has categories similar to the CMLS Criteria
Report, which will be mailed pending compilation of the
readership reports submitted by network libraries during
October 2002. CMLS Criteria Reports will be sent after NLS
has completed an analysis of the readership and circulation
reports and then compared them with the CMLS data.
Beginning March 2003, network libraries will use a new
formula for reporting readership. Therefore, the attached
report and the upcoming CMLS Criteria Report can serve as
snap-shot records of patron profiles under the pre-2003
formula. If you have questions about the report or about
the data, please contact your network consultant.
