Both the proposed identifier (adg) and the Ethologue identifier (ady)
are available in ISO 639-2. I would recommend that we choose "ady".

Result:
The ballot passed unanimously on all points except the French name.
Comments have in fact been made on using alternative names like
Circassian or
Cherkess[ian].
**** COMMENT: Again, absolutely avoid reference to Circassian or
to Cherkess alone. Both are commonly used as as synonym
for Caucasian, in both Russia and Turkey, as well as
further West.
They are also used as synonyms for two different Caucasian
languages, as Ethnologue notes:
CHERKES alt for ADYGHE [ADY]
CHERKES dial of KABARDIAN [KAB]
KABARDINO-CHERKES alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
UPPER CIRCASSIAN alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
UPPER CIRCASSIAN alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
EAST CIRCASSIAN alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
UPPER CIRCASSIAN alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
KABARDINO-CHERKES alt for KABARDIAN [KAB]
CIRCASSIAN alt for ADYGHE [ADY]
LOWER CIRCASSIAN alt for ADYGHE [ADY]
WEST CIRCASSIAN alt for ADYGHE [ADY]
If you do use these terms, i.e. Circassian or Cherkess or
Cherkessian, be as specific as Ethnologue, otherwise only
confusion will be caused.
Just ignoring the comment on including words like Circassian
or Cherkess as alternative language names would be simplest.
