We plan to create METS objects for the various objects being added to
our digital collections. Such METS objects are already in use as an
intermediate format. We have created METS objects for electronic
versions of musical scores, and transform them via XSLT into an XML
form suitable for loading into Greenstone. See
http://chopin.lib.uchicago.edu/ for the result.
We plan to use METS for submitting objects to collaborative projects.
RB> 2) Projected dates of implementation (if not yet in production).
RB> 3) URL to any publicly available production or demonstration
RB> implementations
http://chopin.lib.uchicago.edu/ is available, but uses METS as an
intermediate format to gather descriptive (MODS is embedded) and
structural metadata, from which we produce loadable documents for the
database. METS is *not* used directly for delivery to the end user.
RB> 4) URL to any available documentation or specifications for the
RB> implementations.
Nothing yet fit for public viewing.
RB> 5) An indication of whether any METS tools developed as part of the
RB> implementations are available to other METS implementors; and if so, under
RB> what terms (freeware, licensed software, etc.)
Not yet, more work is needed to make them more generally applicable.
RB> 6) Contact name and email address.
