Some metadata is search specific, for example relevance score. This can't
be recorded statically in the data. There can be IP/DRM issues with
inserting it dynamically into the record, so it really needs to be in a
separate parameter of <record> from the 'real' data.
Even size of record is search specific if you support record schema
transformations.
