Sorry for my periodic non-librarian questions, but can someone please
explain to me:

1) the purpose of the ID attribute on the root (mods) element, and how
this is different than using the identifier element?

2) more a bibliographic question, but when is it appropriate to use the
"manuscript" and "collection" flags?

3) a book chapter that is in a book that is part of a series: this is a
record with two nested relatedItem "hosts"?
