Ahh! Apologies then. And I didn't mean to imply you wanted everything in
SRU proper, just that there is a great temptation for /anyone/ to do this

I think we should use SRU as it stands until someone can describe a
situation in which they need some functionality which is just not possible
and potentially widely useful.
If Theo doesn't want a creative flag, and Bill's service is just a quick
SRU-alike, then we assign it all to storm-in-teacup status, and go back to
discussing the real 1.1 changes? :)

My point was that in the Cheshire distribution is a complete SRW/SRU
implementation, including a browser based XSL interface to SRU. So was
wondering if there was a reason why you'd made your own "SRU"
implementation instead. BTW, Cheshire is ZOOM too. (ChZoom.py) But if you
just needed a 10 minute trick to show people, then that makes perfect
sense, and explains the variation in the response.
