The original question really had three parts.
What elements do I use to encode this sort of information. The previous
replies suggest the possibilities including separatedmaterial, bibliography,
and possibly even that old catch-all, odd.
The second was, can I embed this data physically where I want it to appear,
that is, after the dsc? The answer is, of course. All the elements above
exist at the same structural level as did, scopecontent, dsc, etc. It is,
I suppose, understandable that one would want the encoding to follow the
sequence of the display and have it at the end of the document, though that
is certainly not absolutely necessary. Data can certainly be reordered for
output purposes.
The final question was how to mark this up this information, or part of it,
that one might not want to display. Here one could employ a variety of
switches, mostly like the audience attribute, that could be used to trigger
a stylesheet to display one instance of a separatedmaterial element and not
another.

No more <add>, but the <add> subelements from EAD v.1.0 are still available,
you just no longer (in EAD 2002) need to bundle them a layer deeper than
necessary by putting them in <add>. I haven't tried encoding and parsing
something like this, but it might be possible to encode 2
<separatedmaterial>s, one with the summary note to which Kathlene refers,
with a link pointing to a 2nd <separatedmaterial> farther along in the
finding aid that contains the more detailed list of the materials separated?
Or perhaps the list could go in a <note> farther along in the finding aid.
You'd have to play around a bit and see what parses (i.e., I'm not sure off
the top of my head if the DTD will allow you to put a <separatedmaterial> or
<note> after the </dsc> and before the </archdes>).
