Subject: Re: [PCCTG1] Back to work?
Hi Mary, Hugh and All,
I was out on vacation last week, but am now back to work. Maybe not
everyone is back yet? Please respond to let us know if you are in and if you
will be available over the next 2 months.
Our preliminary report is available at:
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/saco/tgsaco_rpt603.html
Since we need to complete our work by the end of October, I would be very
happy if we could have a draft of the complete report in early October so
that we can each have a good opportunity to review it thoroughly before
passing it along. So, that gives us about a month to reconsider what we
already said and come up with ideas to:
1) Outline a SACO training scenario, including what responsibilities the PCC
has in providing/sharing the existing subject cataloging documentation or
some which might be newly developed.
2) Suggest a mechanism for facilitating the contribution and distribution of
subject proposals among subject trainers and training institutions for
internal review, for final review by LC editorial review staff, and for
distribution of approved headings to the community at large.
3) Identify whose responsibility it should be to implement each of the
elements described.
I understand that our assignment of responsibility should not extend to
ascribing particular tasks to particular staff within LC, even if we would
like to do so.
Please share whatever reactions you may have had from others about
our report, as well as openly criticize any parts you may not like very much
yourself, and dive right in to discussions about the rest of our work. I
thought Hugh made some very good points in his message about the distinction
between members and other contributors, do you agree?
Thanks and best regards,
Jimmie

Hello All,
I haven't seen any messages since Hugh sent his reply. Am I missing
something? My e-mail has changed and with all the Viruses, etc. I
thought I would check.
