I was at the meeting today, and the SRW group graciously listened to
me ramble quasi-sensically about OGSI and GridIR. (Must be all that
good karma built up from the "old" CNIDR days.) My impression from
the SRW documents was that some of the things we (or at least Kevin,
Greg, and I) have assumed were there because they had been in Z39.50
are perhaps no longer there or are different in SRW. For example,
something seems to have changed about the way "databases" are
specified in SRW vs. the model used in Z39.50. It may be a minor
thing, but we (GIR) may need to work through these issues a bit before
settling on a mapping to SRW vs. some other way of doing this.
I brought up ZOOM today because I thought it seemed to fit the grid
service instance model, but I can't remember what the outcome of that
discussion was.
CQL does look like an excellent fit for us.
