Dear AFC Board Members:
As often happens, there is good news and bad news. The good news is
that Ellen Lovell has accepted the position of President of Marlboro
College in Brattleboro, Vermont!! This is a wonderful, exciting new
direction for Ellen's very distinguished career, and it brings her "back
home." She assumes her new post at the end of January, 2004.
The bad news, of course, is that WE WILL MISS HER!!! Ellen has done an
outstanding job of establishing the Veterans History Project as a
national project with high visibility and incredible grassroots
participation. She has assembled a top-notch staff who are ready to
carry on this rewarding work and fulfill the mission of the VHP. Diane
Kresh and I have great confidence in the VHP staff and our collective
ability to expand and grow the project as intended, but we all realize
that Ellen is part of the "family" and her presence and strong
leadership will be greatly missed.
Ellen will be with us until the end of January, as we plan for a smooth
transition. If you want to email her directly, she is at [log in to unmask]
I know that you join me in offering heartfelt congratulations on this
well-deserved appointment and wishing Ellen all the best as she returns
to Vermont.
Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Peggy
