Due to space constraints we wish to dispose of all of Federal Reporter
(1880-1942), volumes 1-599 of Federal Reporter Second (1924-1979) and
volumes 1-499 of Federal Supplement (1931-1980). I have looked at The
Handbook of Federal Librarianship guidelines as to options for disposing
of weeded volumes. However, I am sending a message to this list to
inquire about specific steps other Federal librarians have taken to
dispose of either reporter series or similar large amounts of materials.
For example, if any used book dealers or non-profit organizations were
used; if materials were given or sold to any commercial entities such as
law firms; what kinds of procedures you had to follow for dealing with
GSA; or if the books were actually just tossed out. Any recommendations
as to the best way to go about this project?
If there is sufficient interest, I will summarize for the list. Thank
you.
