Oh, there's no problem networking a Mac with PCs, Suns or 'most anything
that talks TCP/IP (or another common protocol). Recommending that you
consider a Mac is quite reasonable, IMHO. However, commanding you to that
action suggests that any prejudice you may have - for example, from knowing
other hardware or another OS - is irrelevant. The obvious acronymal
superiority so deftly elaborated removes all choice.
IMHO, it is worth looking into a Mac for your needs. No doubt you will
consider the logistics of maintaining two distinct platforms and other
factors, but friends who have been Apple aficianados since I was waiting
for my 8K PET assure me that it's a fine platform for audio.
(1394 for audio? Isn't that a bit of an overkill? IIRC, you can get 96/24
over USB 1.1. Not that there's anything wrong with using 1394 if you have
it - or USB 2 for that matter.)
