FLICC is pleased to offer three workshops in subject cataloging this
Fall. Julianne Beall, Senior Editor of the Dewey Decimal Classification
at the Library of Congress will present an introductory/intermediate
workshop on DDC, 22nd edition. Linda Gabel of OCLC returns to present
workshops on Library of Congress Classification
and Library of Congress Subject Headings.

September 15, 2004 DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION (1 day)
This workshop is designed to give you an introduction to the formation
of class numbers using the 22nd edition of Dewey Decimal Classification
(DDC). The principles of Dewey classification and number building will
be clarified and illustrated with examples and exercises.
September 16, 2004 LIBRARY OF CONGRESS CLASSIFICATION (1 day)
This workshop provides an introduction to the Library of Congress
Classification system (LCC). Through lecture and exercises,
participants will learn how to use the available tools to interpret and
construct LCC call numbers.
September 17, 2004 LIBRARY OF CONGRESS SUBJECT HEADINGS (1 day)
This workshop provides an overview of Library of Congress Subject
Headings (LCSH). Through lecture and exercises, participants will learn
how to select subject terms, construct headings with subdivisions, and
interpret LC subject authority records in both print and MARC formats.
