NLS is pleased to announce the addition of a new QA magazine__ Vital Speeches of the Day__.
A fact sheet about this magazine is attached. Network libraries are encouraged to acquire a
master from the MSCE, notify patrons of its availability, and begin circulation to interested
readers.

A NEW MAGAZINE is now available from the MSCE Quality Assurance Program!
"Vital Speeches of the Day "
-- Vital Speeches is a biweekly periodical, typically 30-35 print pages in
length, with no advertising. Each recorded issue covers two to three sides
and is housed on one cassette.
-- Each issue features 8-10 speeches by individuals "who have attained leadership in the
fields of economics, politics, education, sociology, government, criminology, finance, business,
taxation, health, law, labor, etc."
-- The magazine's introductory page outlines its policies: "The publishers of Vital Speeches
believe that the important addresses of the recognized leaders of public opinion constitute the
best expression of contemporary thought in America, and that it is extremely important for the
welfare of the nation that these speeches be permanently recorded and disseminated. It is the
policy of the magazine's publishers to cover both sides of public questions and to print
speeches in full."
-- The first issue to be reviewed and distributed by the Q.A. Program is dated October 1, 2003.
All issues from this date forward will be available from MSCE.
