The conventional bombs, incendiary and otherwise, used against Japan
racked up an impressive number of casualties before the first atomic
weapon was ever used. Cities lit up like tinder. These runs served as
fair warning to the Japanese citizenry whose military had been
unleashing the apocalypse of 20th Century Warfare throughout Asia for
many years.
