Can I just confirm the operation of the parameters for a Scan as follows, or
not.
A scan returns the number of records specified as a list with the position
of the scanClause parameter defined in this list by responsePosition.
Is it correct to assume that if the position parameter falls outside the
number of records returned, the response is a set of index entries not
including the position of the scanClause.
For example :
a
b
c
d |
e | --- scanClause=e responsePosition=2 maximumTerms = 5, returns this
set
f |
g |
h |
i |
f | --- scanClause=e responsePosition = -3 maximumTerms = 5 ,
returns this set
j |
k |
l |
m
n
In other words, this provides a mechanism for moving up and down the index
from an initial entry point by simply incrementing or decrementing the
responsePosition.
If this operation is allowed, I would find it useful if a flag was returned
indicating that the beginning or end of the index had been reached with a
particular scan request (in a very exceptional case, both conditions might
be possible). This could be used to indicate to the user that it was not
possible to move further up or down the index.
