Luminary Lectures @ Your Library present Meg Bellinger 2/23/04

Meg Bellinger will present a lecture entitled, "Stewardship in the
Digital Age: Roles and Issues for Libraries for Preserving Our
Cultural Heritage" at the Library of Congress on Monday,
February 23rd, from 10:30am-12:00pm in the Dining Room A
on the 6th floor of the Library of Congress' James Madison
Building, located at First Street and Independence Avenue S.E.,
Washington, D.C. No reservations are necessary. All lectures
are free and open to the public. This lecture will be
broadcast live via the Internet at
on the morning of the lecture, EST, and will be viewable with
Real Player software.
Meg Bellinger is an Associate University Librarian at Sterling
Memorial Library, Yale University. She has led major
business development planning and implementation programs,
including the OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) Digital Archive.
Description of the lecture: This presentation explores the
development and evolution of the digital repository and how
digital preservation or archiving in the repository environment
fundamentally differs from the purposes of preservation services.
