Following up on some of the Jack Norworth posts, I did some research into
the possibility that the lyricist of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" appeared
on the Ed Sullivan Show and its predecessor, Toast of the Town.

Here is what I found:

Toast of the Town,
28-September-1952
Jack Norworth, W.C. Handy, Joe Howard, Maude Nugent

Toast of the Town
21-June-1953
Salute to ASCAP, Part Two: described as a "Minstrel show with Ed Sullivan as
interlocutor,"
Jack Norworth along with Smith and Dale as end men, Gracie Fields, Hal
LeRoy, Pat Rooney, Joe Howard, Will Oakland, Ford Chorus of 30 Voices, and
the Longfellow Tambourine Troubadors .

Toast of the Town
09-May-1954
The ASCAP Story" Part 2
Composers scheduled to appear:
Jack Norworth - composer of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"
Joe E. Howard - composer of "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now"
Rudolf Frimi - composer of "Rose Marie" and "Firefly"
Harry Tierney, composer of "Alice Blue Gown"

Ed Sullivan Show
22-Jan-1956
A salute to ASCAP with guests:
Cab Calloway (with daughter Layla) - "Little Girl"
Mitch Miller - "Yellow Rose Of Texas"
The Whiting Sisters (Richard Whiting's daughters Margaret and Barbara) -
medley: "Ain't We Got Fun," "Sleepy Time Gal," "Louise," "He's Funny That
Way" & "Too Marvelous"
John Raitt - "If I Love You"
John Raitt & Claramae Turner - "The Song Is You" (from "Music In The Air")
Frank Silver - "Yes We Have No Bananas"
Jack Norworth (composer) - "Shine On Harvest Moon" & "Take Me Out To The
Ballgame"
Ernie Burnett - "Melancholy Baby"
Jule Styne - medley of movie tunes: "I Don't Want To Walk Without You,"
"Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend," "It's Been A Long, Long Time," "It's
Magic," "I'll Walk Alone," "Never Never Land" & "Three Coins In A Fountain"
Billy Daniels - "Easy To Love," "My Blue Heaven" & "That Old Black Magic"
Helen Kane - "I Wanna Be Loved By You" (The original Boop-Boop-A-Do girl)
Rose Murphy (plays piano) - "I Can't Give You Anything But Love"
Will Oakland - "Macushla"
Maude Nugent Jerome - "Sweet Rosie O'Grady"
Pat Rooney - "Sidewalks Of New York"
--Claramae Turner - You'll Never Walk Alone

Ed Sullivan Show
15-April-1958
cheduled guests:
Nat King Cole (singer)
Mickey Mantle (of the New York Yankees, was the American League's most
valuable player of 1957)
Yogi Berra (catcher)
Whitey Ford (pitcher)
Jack Norworth (composer, wrote "Take Me Out To the Ball Game")
Joyce Grenfell (British comedian)
Laurie London (14-year-old singer)

Question is now, how to find this stuff. One of the shows, the 15-April-1958
show is available through Historic Films Data base for something like $750
and they don't like to do collectors. Does anyone know offhand of any
schools or repositories of material like this? The LOC has one or two; the
National Archives SONIC was down when I tried, but any help would be greatly
appreciated.
