RLG Forum -- To Have and to Hold: Metadata and Institutional Repositories
Date: Wednesday, 7 April, 2004
Hosted by: The Hoover Institution, Stanford University
Location: Stauffer Auditorium, Herbert Hoover Memorial Building
Stanford, CA 94305
Program Description:
This one-day forum will highlight new developments in metadata standards
for description, discovery, and delivery of electronic information
resources. The program will also feature presentations about some
institutional repositories and repository systems that are used to manage
and store digital information and how various metadata standards are used
in these instances.
Currently, institutions have several options for institutional repository
systems. Open Source software such as DSpace and FEDORA are freely
available and are finding many implementers. Still other institutions have
opted to build their own repositories using a variety of software choices
and systems. Speakers will share their choices and the lessons they've
learned.
This educational opportunity is open to all RLG member staff and to those
attending METS Opening Day. We are grateful to the Hoover Institution at
Stanford University for graciously hosting this event.
Speakers and a full agenda will be announced shortly. The program will be
similar to the well-received RLG Forums held in December, 2003 in
Washington, DC and Chicago.
