FLICC Meeting Announcement MA2004-22
Brown Bag Series
Taxonomy Mapping Projects
Bring Your Lunch!
How do content managers provide integrated access to multiple
databases, each indexed using different thesauri or taxonomy schemes?
How do catalogers determine equivalent terms, classes or identifiers to
support parallel subject systems? Join the FLICC Content Management
Working Group as they host three presentations about real, live projects
to integrate multiple taxonomies or subject schemes to facilitate access
to varied databases; then join in group discussions of these and other
projects affecting federal library systems. The program presenters and
their projects are
* Carolyn Tilley, National Library of Medicine
Using the Unified Medical Language System
* Julianne Beall, Library of Congress/OCLC Dewey Services
Linking the Dewey Decimal Classification to LC Classification and
* Jerry Knihnicki, Army Knowledge Online
