Network Bulletin No. 04-16
Date: March 5, 2004
Subject: CMLS
Index Term: Two New Features on NLS Webnet
NLS WebNet has introduced two new features to the "CMLS Research" screen. The
first is a dynamic search that enables libraries to find a specific NLS magazine and to
view a list of the subscribers for that particular publication. Libraries may also view a
full display of a subscriber's record by selecting a publication and clicking on
"Submit Query." Doing so will allow viewers to browse through a list of subscribers
and then select a subscriber(s) by placing a check mark in the appropriate box(es).
The second feature, "CMLS Subscriber/Subscription Summary," enables a library to
view a summary of its magazine distribution. The feature presents a list of NLS
publications along with the total number of subscribers for each publication. It also
provides the grand total of the library's subscribers.
The records for both of these new features will be revised as part of the regular
weekly batch update.
These additions to WebNet are the first of other planned improvements to help
libraries locate and retrieve on-line information through the CMLS system.
