I think part of the problem is that SRW was originally the name for the
application specification but there would be multiple protocol bindings
- one to URL in a REST like style, one to SOAP over HTTP etc. (we could
bind to SMTP or P2P protocols for instance). Somewhere along the line
the binding to HTTP URL's picked up its own name (personally I never saw
the need, but people do like to name things...)
Of course if we do have other bindings we may need more names!
