Heinlein on juvenile fiction wrote that it's the same as grown-up
fiction, but without the sex. I think he also was considering what
he'd heard of female test pilots.

According to Verhoven he had to skip the MI armor because of the cost.
The trouble with that is that much of RAH's point derives from the
MI's inherent effectiveness. In the movie the MI were practically
