Colleagues,
A student of mine, after a particularly harrowing final, composed the
following lyric to celebrate her hard-earned EAD skills. It's a bit
awkward in spots, but had me laughing heartily. Enjoy!

(Sung to the tune of the great disco anthem "I Will Survive.")
At first I couldn't code and I was petrified,
Just thinking I would never learn to write this stuff without a guide,
But then I spent so many nights on the help pages at the LOC,
and I grew strong,
I learned how to do EAD!
And now I'm done with the whole d__n thing!
Just sent the final off to be graded and this is the song that I now
sing.
Go on and go! go out the door,
'cause my editor's free trial period isn't working anymore.
There were times when I was confused about <arrangement>
but I didn't crumble, I didn't break down, I just changed it!
oh no not I,
I survived!
Well, as long as I know XML I know I'll be alright.
I've got two more semesters to go, and then I'll make that archivist
dough,
and I'll survive!
I will survive (hey-hey)
