The INSPEC Database was created in 1969 based on the Science Abstracts
Journals services which have been published by The IEE since 1898. It
currently contains bibliographic records for nearly 8 million scientific and
technical papers, technical journals, conferences and other publications
published throughout the world in a wide range of languages. These are being
added to at a rate of almost 400,000 per year. The contents of over 3,500
journals and 1,500 conference proceedings, as well as numerous books,
reports & dissertations, are scanned each year by Inspec.
Additional news from INSPEC includes:
· the recent addition of a fifth section of the database: Section E
Manufacturing & Production Engineering to include coverage of over 200
additional journals and thousands of new terms added to the INSPEC
Thesaurus.
· one million more fulltext DOI (Digital Object Identifiers) to be
added in 2004
· the digitization and availability or the entire Science Abstracts
Archive (1898-1968)
