The Congressional Research Service (CRS) seeks an Information Research
Specialist to serve in the CRS Information Research Division (INF),
which provides Congress with customized information research and
reference assistance. INF staff respond to congressional requests with
written reports, selected materials, electronic files, Web pages and
other electronic products designed to meet the needs of Congress for
continuous access to information and research across the wide spectrum
of public policy issues.
The Information Research Specialist will serve as a subject matter
expert on religion/comparative religions and will combine knowledge of
the subject matter with advanced research methodologies to analyze and
solve highly complex research problems; provide reference services;
write information research reports, legislative histories, and other
types of documents; and identify, examine and evaluate major
publications, electronic resources, and trends in a variety of research
policy areas, with emphasis on religion/comparative religions. Other
duties include creating and maintaining databases, web pages, shared
folders and other information systems to assist CRS analysts on policy
issues related to religion/comparative religions. Candidates possessing
an MLS/MIS degree and background or interest in religion are strongly
encouraged to apply.
