Dear MARC list readers,
Does anyone have a list of MARC fields and subfields suitable for use with
Microsoft Excel? If so, I would be grateful to hear from you, if you are
willing to share it with me. Please respond to [log in to unmask]
With our SIRSI system (installed last year), we have local options for
indexing and display, in both public and staff modes, for our keyword and
browse searches. We are about to make some decisions prior to reindexing
the database. My role is to advise others here on what fields/subfields are
required (or conversely, which ones should be omitted) in each index. A
spreadsheet format seems a suitable way to do this. Hence my request.
Of course, if anyone else has already done a similar project, either for
SIRSI or some other system, I would be very grateful to hear from you. But
simply having a list of fields and subfields would save some keyboarding.
Thanks for reading - Ian
