If I am reading you right, you want to get &nbsp; in your output
You can do this by using this in your stylesheet.
<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">& a m p ; nbsp;</xsl:text>
(space should be removed from above xsl syntax)
The output will be & nbsp; (without the space).
