Hello Bruce,
My understanding of the the situation is this. When cataloging a
chapter from a book or article from a journal, each of these are
monographic components because they are not going to be published (in
this forum) again. What is published serially is the journal itself,
which should be coded as continuing. If the journal is being fully
analyzed (each article is getting it's own description as well as the
journal being described), then there should be multiple avenues to
access each article.
