I am hoping this may also provide an entree into things that are
not quite bibliographic. For instance, Matthew already created a
GILS/UDDI gateway. In UDDI, the fundamental model is a catalog
of entities in a one-to-many relationship with the services
supported by each business. Services also have a many-to-one
relationship with tModels ("type models", registered identifiers
for common services). Of course, each such entities have metadata
such as a name, date created, owner, etc. Would these entities
be valid terms in the set of "levels" (or whatever)?
Perhaps even more elegant is to provide an SRW interface against
a semantic registry as part of an ebXML repository. In such a
repository one finds things like XML Schemas, business rules,
service providers, and so on. ebXML provides a generalized way
to add other kinds of records (the mechanism called "RIM").
Wouldn't it be good to have an open-ended way in SRW to add
these as the kind of "levels" that Rob suggested?
