FLICC MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT MA2004-37
--Brown Bag Series--
Seize the Feed: Content Syndication for Enhanced Governmental
Bring Your Lunch!
RSS is an XML format which enables the syndication, or sharing, of Web
content. Through a Web feed, new and updated content is sent
automatically to subscribed users, thus significantly reducing the need
to revisit sites individually.
Join the FLICC Content Management Working Group and the Science,
Technology & Business Division of the Library of Congress for an
in-depth discussion with Gerry Mckiernan, the compiler of RSS(sm): Rich
Site Services, a categorized registry of library services that are
delivered or provided through RSS/XML, Atom, or other types of Web
feeds, as well as eFeeds(sm): Web Feeds from Electronic Journals, and
B-Feeds(sm): Web Feeds for Books and Monographs.
The discussion will feature the nature, structure and common
applications of Web feeds, and their emerging use in providing enhanced
information and library services.
