I understand that "Forbidden Planet" was one of Roddenberry's inspirations for the Star Trek series as a whole. One can point to general resemblances such as the shapes of the spacecraft, the crew structure and dynamics (more like a naval ship than a rocketship) and the fairly intelligent script. I can't point out a single episode directly inspired by the movie, although the Enterprise certainly encountered plenty of dead civilizations and monsters, both visible and invisible.
