Thanks a lot for your answer! I have now written a stylesheet which serves
for my purposes quite well. I had to convert a list of about 700
marcxml-notices, generated by Virtuas XML-output client Vortex, to a
component list in ead. It was not really very hard to do and it hadn't to be
perfect...

We use xml and xsl's to convert xml based languages (not only ead/marc, but
also eac, agls, dc, etc.), both for single and multiple records. I cannot
send a sample, because it's protected by copyright, but I will try to find
some of the preliminary drafts to send.

I would be interested in an XSLT-Stylesheet that works the other way round
and converts a MARCXML-file (with different records inside) to an
EAD-components list (or a whole EAD-file). Has someone allready made such a
tool?

MARC is the more granular of the two encoding schemes so it more
straightforward to convert MARC into EAD. If you go from EAD to MARC, you
will inevitably have some editing to do in the fixed field areas and also
with respect to subfiled coding in 1XX, 6XX, and the 7XX MARC fields.
That said, one approach is to use a stylesheet to convert an EAD record into
MARC XML format and then use a converter that will transform MARC XML into
MARC2709, the format your ILS and the utilities can accept.
