Heidi:
With the web version of Cataloger's Desktop we are not focused on
whether the student accesses the product remotely. The Terms and
Conditions document states that anyone, faculty, staff, student, etc.,
accessing Cataloger's Desktop at a particular site must be primarily
associated with that site which means remote users must meet that
requirement. Additionally, the concurrent user count doesn't change with
remote access so people handing out usernames and passwords should be
careful not to exceed the level of use that they are paying for.
Remember that people handing product usernames and passwords should be
aware that their institution is responsible for any product abuse. I
understand from my colleague, Cheryl Cook, that with Class Web there
have been a few library school students who got carried away printing
out pages, and inadvertently shutting down their library school's access
to Class Web.
I'm not sure what "DE" is, so I hope that I've answered your question.

How are you (or are you?) providing access to LC Desktop for your
distance students? I need to improve student access to tools but DE
makes it more complex, me thinks. Before I broach this I'd like to
learn from you all's experience.
Many thanks.
