As part of a series of orientations to libraries and information
centers, FLICC is offering an opportunity for federal librarians to
become acquainted with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the
National Institutes of Health (NIH). Peer into the past, present, and
future of medicine at the world's largest medical library. Founded in
1836, NLM has high-tech wonders like virtual cadavers and vast databases
that exist side by side with a rich historical collection. The program
will include:
* Welcome, introduction and building tour
* Tour of "Changing the Face of Medicine," exhibition on
America's women physicians
* NLM databases and customer service
* The Visible Human Project, showcasing male and female cyber cadavers
