This is a good point. It could be from the exact same directory though.

In my case, I literally have to download each individual schema from
whatever disparate locations, convert the schema myself to RNG (using a
free tool from Sun), clean it up because the conversion isn't totally
clean (it seems more because of the coding of MODS/MADS than the
conversion tools), etc., etc.
OK, maybe my problems are related to my tools. But I do think that as
the LoC looks longer term at restructuring development around a type
library, they also might consider ways to provide alternative
representations (it is technically possible to create RNG versions of
these schemas that offer perfect fidelity), and to package them as zip
files too.
The more options you present developers and users, the more likely they
are to actually use MODS/MADS.
