Making the case for libraries
OCLC's new campaign calls attention to their value
OCLC has launched an advocacy advertising campaign on behalf
of OCLC members and the larger library community. The campaign
is meant to raise the visibility and highlight the viability
of libraries to their funding bodies.
The campaign consists of a series of national print ads and
local, customizable posters. The ads appear outside the
traditional library trade press, and the message promotes
libraries rather than OCLC or its services.
Public libraries
The goal is to convince funding decision-makers that libraries
are a sound economic investment. The ads showcase the positive
economic impact of public libraries. You assist job seekers,
kick-start small businesses and provide a "third place" for
community activities.

Academic libraries
The aim is to remind administrators that libraries are more
relevant than ever, thanks to new technology and the new role
it lets them play. The ads reinforce the idea that you serve
students and faculty both inside and outside the library.
