When you reference files as css 5 and 6, are you referring to EAD Cookbook files? None are so named.
As to 3, I suspect that the cause of this message is that you are using Instant Saxon which required the presence of the Microsoft Virtual Machine, Microsoft's version of the Java Virtual Machine. The MVM is no longer distributed and even if you could find it, it will not work with more recent versions of Windows. So if you want to use Saxon you will have to use both a more recent version of full Saxon plus install Sun's java machine.
The message in 4 suggests that perhaps you are trying to use eadcbs7.xsl with msxsl which will not work. As the cookbook points out, this stylesheet requires an extension that is not available in msxsl in order to create the multiple pages required in a frames display. You will need to use some version of Saxon. When the EAD Cookbook 2002 was released, Instant Saxon was a viable option but as with so many computer situations, that has changed and only the full version of Saxon is currently available, though in what are now two different flavors. Alas.

Subject: ead cookbook and note tab questions
When I use the "Make HTML" clip:
1. only css 5 & 6 work reliably with msxsl
2. when an HTML file _is_ created, it does not include the entire ead
file, and every subsequent time I try the clip the amount read of the
file seems to get shorter. The end point seems random. (It also doesn't
display all of the code correctly, but that's another issue.)
3. when I try to use saxon with any css, I get an error message that
"Microsoft virtual machine is not found"
4: when I use css 7-9 with msxsl, the error message is "xsl:template may
not contain xsl:document"
5: the "View in browser" clip does not work at all
Am I missing something?
TIA,
Ron
