Notes: This position serves as a confidential Administrative Assistant to the Director of Legal Research for International, Comparative, and Foreign Law. As such, this position serves as an initial point of contact for Congressional requests, and is responsible to the Director for ensuring the efficient record keeping and processing of all requests. The Administrative Assistant must work well in a multicultural and diverse
environment, and feel comfortable working with senior Library and Congressional staff. The Directorate of Legal Research of the Law Library of Congress produces single-country and multinational reports for the United States Congress on important public policy issues involving international, comparative, and foreign law. The Directorate's legal specialist staff of foreign-trained lawyers from over 20 jurisdictions are supervised by two division chiefs and assisted by multilingual legal research analysts. They respond to Congressional research and reference inquiries on the legal systems of all nations, past and present, on the basis of the Law Library's global collection.
